Scenario:

Sugreeva describes Great details of the Southern Direction.

‘வட சொற்கும் தென் சொற்கும் வரம்பு ஆகி, நான் மறையும்,மற்றை நூலும்,
இடை சொற்ற பொருட்கு எல்லாம் எல்லை ஆய், நல் அறிவுக்கு ஈறு ஆய், வேறு
புடை சுற்றும் துணை இன்றி, புகழ் பொதிந்த மெய்யேபோல் பூத்து நின்ற
அடை சுற்றும் தண் சாரல் ஓங்கிய வேங்கடத்தில் சென்று அடைதிர் மாதோ. (கிஷ்கா 763 / 4472)

‘கோடு உறு மால் வரைஅதனைக் குறுகுதிரேல், உம் நெடிய கொடுமை நீங்கி,
வீடு உறுதிர்; ஆதலினால் விலங்குதிர்; அப் புறத்து, நீர் மேவு தொண்டை –
நாடு உறுதிர்; உற்று, அதனை நாடுறுதிர்; அதன்பின்னை, நளி நீர்ப் பொன்னிச்
சேடு உறு தண் புனல் தெய்வத் திரு நதியின் இரு கரையும் தெரிதிர் மாதோ. (கிஷ்கா 766 / 4475)

வட திசை மொழி களுக்கும் தென்மொழியாகிய தமிழுக்கும் எல்லையாகியும் நான்கு வேதங்களும் பிற சாத்திரங்களும் தம்மிடம் குறித்துள்ள எல்லாப் பொருள்களுக்கும் முடிவான பொருளைத் தன்பாற் கொண்டுள்ளதாகியும் நுட்பமான ஞான அறிவுக்கெல்லாம் வரம்பாகியும் பக்கத்தில் பொருந்திய உவமானப் பொருட்கள் வேறொன்றும் இல்லாமல் புகழ் நிரம்பிய உடலைப் போல பொலிவுற்று விளங்குகின்ற, தேன்கூடுகளால் சுற்றிலும் நிரம்பப்பெற்ற குளிர்ந்த தாழ்வரைகளையுடைய உயர்ந்துள்ள திருவேங்கட மலையில் போய்ச் சேருங்கள்.

சிகரங்கள் பொருந்திய பெரிய அத்திருவேங்கட மலையை நெருங்குவீர் களானால் உங்களுடைய மிகக் கொடிய பாவங்கள் எல்லாம் நீங்கி, உடனே முத்தி அடைவீர்கள். ஆதலால் அதற்குள் புகாமல் விலகிச் செல்லுங்கள் அதற்கு அப்பால் நீர் வளம் மிக்க தொண்டை நாட்டை சென்று அடையுங்கள் அவ்வாறு சேர்ந்து அந்த நாட்டைத் துருவித் தேடிக் காணுங்கள். அதன் பிறகு பெருமையுள்ள நீர் நிறைந்த பொன்னியென்னும் பெயர் கொண்ட உயர்வான தோற்றமுள்ள குளிர்ந்த நீர் நிரம்பிய தெய்வத்தன்மை பெற்ற காவிரி நதியின் இரண்டு கரைகளிலும் சீதையை ஆராய்ந்து தேடுங்கள்.

Meaning:

“Then all of you would reach the Tiru Venkatam (we now know as Tirupati – Tirumala) mountains, which is actually the boundary converging the Northern and Southern languages. This mountain possesses that great thing which is the end of all the things in Life including the Four Vedas and the Sastras. This mountain is also the boundary of deep wisdom which does not have anything that can even be compared to it. Its valleys filled with bee hives all around that are shining like bodies with fame!

When you reach that big Tiru Venkatam mountains with peaks all your great sins would be vanished and purified. So you all would attain salvation immediately!. So please do not go inside it, and avoid it. After crossing it, all of you would reach the Tondai Nadu which has huge wealth of water in it. Completely and thoroughly search that country after which you reach the divine and famous Ponni River (Cauvery) which has great looks around. Search for Sita thoroughly on its both the banks.

Comments:

1. Extremely well defined Geography by Kamban through the Voice of Sugreeva.
2. Current Tirumala Balaji is defined as Tiru Venkatam mountain peaks which are defined as the confluence of Northern and Southern Indian Languages.
3. Most beautiful message here is that Sugreeva asks the Monkey team NOT to go inside Tiru Venkata . Because it is such a holy place that you will all get Salvation immediately and therefore you cannot continue your search on Sita. So Sugreeva tells them to search around but not go inside Tiru Venkatam (Balaji Temple!). How cautious and clear are his instructions!
4. இம்மலை திருமாலின் வடநாட்டுத் திருப்பதிகள் பன்னிரண்டனுள் முதலாவது ஆகும்.
5. வேங்கடம் = வேம் கடம் – தன்னை அடைந்தோரின் பாவங்களை ஒழிப்பது.
6. To an interesting question: “What if Sita was hidden inside Tiru Venkatam hills? Monkeys will miss her if they do not go inside the Hills? To this our veteran Sri AR Dikshitar quips:

“அந்தப் பாவி ராவணனால் சீதா தேவி தாயாரை அந்தப் புனிதமான இடத்துல ஒளித்து வைக்கவே முடியாது. அந்த பாவத்துலையே அவன் பொசுங்கி போய்டுவான். அதனால தைரியமா அங்க தேடாம விடலாம்!”

7. Sugreeva says after crossing Tiru Venkatam hills, they can enter and search in Tondai Nadu.

Tondai Nadu also known as Tondaimandalam, is a historical region located in the northernmost part of Tamil Nadu and southernmost part of Andhra. The region comprises the districts which formed a part of the legendary kingdom of Athondai Chakravarthi. The boundaries of Tondaimandalam are rather ambiguous – Mostly between the river basins of Penna River and Ponnaiyar Rivers.

The core area covers the present day areas of Nellore, Chittoor, Tirupati, Annamayya, Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Tiruvanamalai, Villupuram, Kallakuruchi, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore and Chennai districts of modern- Andhra and Tamil Nadu

8. Sugreeva then orders the Vanaras teams to search Tondai Nadu fully and reach River Cauvery aka Ponni River. Both banks of that Holy River Ponni shall be searched.
